It’s my 3-year blogversary and I am full of gratitude and love. Thank you to everyone reading this right now. I appreciate your love + support. There are so many more great things in store for my blog. Stay tuned.

This post discusses steps to taking responsibility for our actions. As I get older I understand more and more that what shapes us as “adults” and even as humans period is being able to acknowledge when we’ve done wrong or hurt someone and try to do better for the next time. Here is what I came up with. Hope it helps someone out there.

Taking responsibility here.

  • Understand
  • Acknowledge
  • Plan
  • Change
  • Build/Rebuild
  • Grow
  • Love

1. Understand.

  • Taking the time to hear how others feel.
  • Not taking it as an attack, but just a form of expression.
  • Understanding that you may not agree 100%, but that doesn’t give you the right to disregard what is being said.
  • Includes/involves asking questions for clarity (if needed)

2. Acknowledge.

  • After understanding the person’s point of view, take responsibility for your actions.
  • Apologize, see a need for an apology and say “I’m sorry”.
  • Know that something is wrong and needs to be fixed.
  • Admit and let go of pride.

3. Plan.

  • Figuring out actions to take to make the situation better for both sides.
  • Give suggestions or show an effort in writing things to be different.

4. Change.

  • Let go of the negativity that may have consumed your heart.
  • Action.
  • Start over, clean slate. Prepare for harvest.

5. Build/Rebuild.

  • Establish new relationships.
  • Step by step, now it’s time to have more communication.
  • Fresh start.
  • New opportunity.
  • Requires a lot of work + effort for it to last.

6. Grow.

  • Recognize that the little sprout turned into a beautiful (flower) plant.
  • Bare good fruit.
  • Great attitude.

7. Love.

  • Togetherness.
  • Unity.
  • Genuine appreciation + love for one another.
  • Walking in agreeance + compromising.
