Growth…Is it easily obtainable?

Can you believe it’s May 2020 already? Time is indeed flying. In today’s post I wanted to discuss a bit on the subject of growth. To me it’s a topic I’ll always be talking about because it’s something we can never stop doing (by choice you can). When I sit in my quiet space to write and fully reevaluate everything that is going on or I have been through, I think of the word growth every time. How did I grow from my past situation? Am I growing or am I stagnant in my ways? Am I practicing to have a growth mindset? These are just a few questions that comes to mind. Maybe you should ask yourself these questions also. Is Growth Easily Obtainable? I’m asking for a friend… No seriously, is growth easily obtainable? In my honest opinion, the answer is yes. The answer is yes, but there are some factors that comes with it. If you want to grow, it won’t happen overnight. Think about it, a plant doesn’t just grow in …

10 Reasons To Step Out Your Comfort Zone + Youtube Channel Launch.

This year I’m stepping out of comfort zones and going for IT. Period. Your comfort zone is a leech, sucking you dry and leaving you for dead. READ TO THE END! It can get tricky to know when you should step out of your comfort zone, but that is all the reason why you should do it NOW. Keeping It Real, it is not easy to step out of our comfort zones. The phrase itself has “comfort” in it and that is something we human beings adore! We love to have it our way,  the way we want it, when we want it without having to give too much energy. Sounds a bit lazy right? Reread that. I bet you will agree. Let’s dig a bit deeper though, in terms of our life dreams, goals and aspirations we are sometimes forced to make the changes and put in the work in order to get where we need to be (unless you’re privileged and don’t have to work for anything). That requires us to do things …

6 Ways To Fight Writer’s Block.

Writers’ block can be a pain. It can make us writers feel like we are incompetent, lesser, and like we are losing the one thing that should just flow…words. I have been a victim of writer’s block many many times, so I have accumulated some helpful tips to help you push through writer’s block. If you’ve been faced with this problem, this post is for you! My most favorite place to write is on my bed under my comfy comforter. Sometimes I enjoy having the window open to have some sunlight in or some soft music that will calm my mind and help my thoughts to just easily flow to my fingertips. This is not always 100% successful because distractions occur.  HERE ARE 6 TIPS TO FIGHT WRITERS BLOCK: 1. Turn your phone on do not disturb (or completely off). We know ourselves enough to know that there will always be that one notification that we’ll keep checking and that one text message we have to answer. If you want to get serious brain juice …

Self-Reflect + Redirect.

Happy New Month my loves! December has always been one of my favorite months for 3 reasons: my dad’s birthday month, the month before my birthday, and the month of reflection on all I’ve accomplished, lost, gained and so much more. What does December mean to you? This post is a bit different. I want you to actually read these questions and think about them. You don’t have to answer in the comments, but I do want you to answer them for yourself, maybe in a journal or in your mind. You can save this template, pin it to Pinterest or share it on your social accounts so others can also complete it. I’ve always wanted to create something like this because I know it can be so helpful. Sometimes we may think we haven’t done anything, but when we take the time to reflect + jot things down, it leaves us feeling way better. Visuals are important. It’s more attention-grabbing, engaging, more flexible than verbal+mental talks, and it lets you see your message more …

Show Up For Yourself.

I get inspired to write my posts randomly and today is just what happened. Day after day we wake up and as routines go, we get things done. Whether that’s work, school, taking care of a child, providing for our families, whatever it may be, we get it done. I say this to say, what if we decided to actually show up for ourself as we show up constantly for other people? It’s crazy because I’ve been hit with the reality of how people pick and choose when to show up for me, and it didn’t make me bitter, but it made me get better. Showing up for yourself, to me means to do things that make you uncomfortable. It means to get out that comfort zone and put your plans, dreams, and aspirations to work. It means that no matter what that voice in your head says, you surpass it and you do what you need to do. It means that you know who you are and you’re trusting yourself to make choices …

Go Get It.

All Photos By Duran Andrae. These photos are giving me BOSS BABE vibes. She is serious about her future. This past week I’ve had a lot of “ah ha” moments, some high and low moments, and some okay moments as well. To be honest, how many of you can relate to the day to day struggle of keeping your head above water and just making it through? I can definitely. Today’s post came to mind because of some motivational speeches I’ve been listening to lately that have had me on a high. Usually, in the mornings I listen to one song that keeps me company as I get ready for work, then transition to traveling to work. However, I swapped to listening to one particular motivational speech that really gets me pumping and makes me want to actually get out there and GO GET IT! How do you guys feel about motivational speeches?  For me, once in a while, I need one as a ‘pick me uper’. Sometimes I need that reminder. As much as …

I Bring Me.

[Photographer: Duran Andrae. Hit him up!] Hello my loves, thanks for stopping by!  “What do you bring to the table?” I bring me! How many times have you been questioned or even second guessed yourself in terms of what you bring to the table? Whether it’s at work, school or in a relationship/friendship, I probe you to never let anyone make you feel like you bring anything less than great to the table. It’s normal to have doubts or even fears when it comes to overcoming situations, however, that does not mean it’s the last stop for you. Today’s post is long overdue, but it’s good and you’re going to want to keep reading! It’s no surprise that life is filled with great moments and memories, but what about the not so great ones? What about the times when we go through something that’s so terrible that you give up on the very thing that makes you, you… I’m here to say don’t. I’m literally speaking to myself in this post also because to be completely …

Facing Life.

Warning: This post is a bit lengthy, but it’s worth the read. #BlackGirlJoy My two words for the year, as mentioned in a previous post are STRENGTH & COURAGE. Are those words being put into action in your life? We are almost into our third month of the year, more specifically almost 1/4 into the year…are you doing enough? Are you facing life head on? I try to think about life and what it feels like sometimes and this is what I came up with. Imagine being thrown into a boxing ring with a professional boxer, who has a bunch of wins under his belt. You, on the other hand, is not a professional boxer, a matter of fact you’re an amateur and have no wins under your belt. So obviously you’re going to get punched left, right and center. A beat down. Head faced down, tears running down your face, unconscious, and embarrassed. Life is that pro-boxer and we are the person faced down on the floor. Life feels like an ongoing beatdown sometimes …

Mixing Prints + Adulting.

Happy Tuesday Loves! Cheers to my 100th Blog Post! Can you believe that January is almost over? I mean, we are 29 days in and your girl is still shocked! I can only hope that you guys have had a wonderful + positive year so far and if you haven’t…make that change ASAP, a new month is approaching. Today’s post is about mixing prints…something I accomplished by just throwing things together! Before I get into that, let’s get a little chatty about the art of adulting, then I’ll talk about my mix print outfit. Let’s chat… Adulting 101 So as a young adult (a person in their mid-twenties) there are many things that I face in the eyes of family, friends, and co-workers. Let’s be honest, the pressures of life hit you hard after a certain age, but that doesn’t mean you throw in the towel and give up! I’m learning through different situations on a constant basis that 1. Only I can control my life, that includes my actions as well and 2. Life …

Have no worry, have no fear.

Hello, my loves! Today’s post is a bit personal, but I aimed to just shed my thoughts and encouragement on how to cope and elevate when dealing with fear. We normally associate fear with darkness, for the mere fact that it is something that we do not welcome in our lives, however, did you know it can harbor a permanent place within your life if you don’t make a change now? Fear is something that can make you or break you.  Hear me out, That vulnerable thing you want to do keeps pressing your mind every day, but you keep ignoring it. You question yourself because you’re uncertain. You second guess yourself because your confidence is running on zero. Add a cup of fear to that equation and what do you get? A person who never take risks, try new things, do the impossible, elevates, but stay stagnant and the list goes on… I have been there. I’ve allowed fear to take a permanent place in my life. I’ve given up before even trying and …

Simplicity is key.

Hello my loves! Happy Monday! It’s a brand new (work) week! How excited are you to keep grinding, achieving goals and breaking barriers? On a scale of  1-10, I’m at a 10! Each new week, each new day is another opportunity do things differently than the day before. Today’s style post is a #collaboration with BAGGU, but I wanted to share with you guys some motivation to get through the week first! I’m learning more and more that simple is better. Don’t get me wrong, standing out is awesome, but simple is more comfortable. That goes for both in style and in life. Here’s 4 tips for keeping it simple: Don’t expect too much. We as humans have a tendency to want things to go the way we plan it every time, but the truth is that’ll never happen. Things will go wrong. As I’ve grown up hearing: expect the best, the worse or nothing at all. The best motto. Don’t makes excuses. Owning up to things allows us to grow and it gives us peace …

25 Positive Affirmations to Oneself.

Inspired by Alex Elle’s #1AffirmationADay Take one or two or three and go for the day! Look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself… Today I affirm: I am not finished growing yet and I cannot beat myself up for things that I have not yet accomplished. I require love + care, just as plants need water + sunlight to grow. I am not a robot. I feel, I make mistakes, I hurt, I grow. I will not compare nor contrast myself or parts of myself to anyone. Not everything seen on social media is true, the grass isn’t always greener, so don’t be fooled. I am filled with unmatchless potential, power and perseverance to accomplish anything. God allows certain things to happen to teach me lessons and to see if I will still stay strong. The only person you should seek validation from is yourself and God. YOU ARE ENOUGH. I am enough. (Tell yourself this on your worse days.) If I want to see change, I have to be the change and make …
