Mixing Prints + Adulting.
Happy Tuesday Loves!
Cheers to my 100th Blog Post!
Can you believe that January is almost over? I mean, we are 29 days in and your girl is still shocked! I can only hope that you guys have had a wonderful + positive year so far and if you haven’t…make that change ASAP, a new month is approaching. Today’s post is about mixing prints…something I accomplished by just throwing things together! Before I get into that, let’s get a little chatty about the art of adulting, then I’ll talk about my mix print outfit.

Channeling my inner queen.
Let’s chat… Adulting 101
So as a young adult (a person in their mid-twenties) there are many things that I face in the eyes of family, friends, and co-workers. Let’s be honest, the pressures of life hit you hard after a certain age, but that doesn’t mean you throw in the towel and give up! I’m learning through different situations on a constant basis that 1. Only I can control my life, that includes my actions as well and 2. Life is more than a glass of lemonade! These two things take time to master and definitely practice on a regular basis. Let’s dig a little deeper. When it comes to having control over our lives, of course, people will have opinions and that’s fine. However, YOU ALWAYS HAVE THE FINAL SAY. This applies to all ages across the border. I’ve compiled a few tips for taking control of your life.
STEP 1. Take ownership of your life.
Life is more than a glass of lemonade!
— Simple. What I mean is to take responsibility for everything that happens to you. Make changes where necessary, stop playing the blame game. At the end of the day, the only person staring back at you in the mirror is you. Don’t settle for a glass of lemonade…make grapefruit juice, watermelon juice, orange juice, or even CELERY JUICE! You always have options. Remember that!
STEP 2. It’s okay to let things slide.
— People will ALWAYS try to test you…I mean whether it’s because of the way you look, your age, or simply because they are intimidated by you. How you respond to them is the real test. People will push you until you break, don’t allow yourself to stoop that low. Everyone that takes the high road always WIN, trust me. It may take a shot at your pride, but in the end, God will deal with it all and make you a winner. (This is me speaking from experience currently)
STEP 3. Create and build healthy-longlasting relationships/friendships.
— As you grow older your eyes get clearer and you see better, (in retrospect obviously, because everyone knows your sight gets worse as you get older hahaha). In terms of knowing who is for you and who is just pulling on the hem of your garment…TRUST you will know. Let them go. You definitely won’t have time for them + you’re only channeling positive energy at this point in your life! Recognize your worth. Understand this…
People will come and go, but appreciate the ones who choose to stay.
Mixing Prints- THE FIT.
LISTEN! Every girl has some type of black & white in their closet. Whether it’s polka dots, stripes, mixed patterns, zigzags, florals, plaid…the list goes on! I decided that I wanted to do a creative look, so I popped out this jumpsuit from my grad shoot last year (See Grad Shoot Diary Here), and at the last minute, this polka dot puffed sleeve top! It’s so weird because I had no clue how it would look on me, but as soon as I put the whole outfit on…I fell in love with it! There’s no shame in
1. Recycling pieces &
2. Mix & Matching prints!
After all you paid for it + it’s you being creative! This year I’m doing it all! How’d I do?

Cheers to being #extraall2019. Thanks for stopping by! xoxo MJ.
Agree. Agree. Agree. I completely agree with what you have said. Also – you’re a stunningly gorgeous human being. (Just needed to add that. Hope it doesn’t sound creepy)
I would never ever think to put polka dots and stripes together but you look so cute! Love this outfit!
I love number 3. I hate high maintenance friendships. I love that I have close friends with a solid base that I don’t need to be in contact with constantly to know it’s all good. I love this outfit too. The prints are incredible x

Hey MJ, how you been babe?! First off, you look phenomenal and confidently beautiful in your pics❤️ I appreciate the life advice you shared because you’re so right, it’s all about controlling you. You can’t control their actions but you can control your response 😁 I’m a huge fan of mixed prints, it’s my favorite go-to tip for instant style!
